About Bernese Mountain dogs

The Bernese Mountain Dog is a large breed dog, that originated in the Swiss Alps.  They were used as farm dogs, pulling carts and guarding livestock.  Big and built for hard work, but also strikingly beautiful.   They are calm, sweet-natured, very affectionate, and especially good with children.   They are an intelligent breed, easy to train, and eager to please.  They are a devoted friend that thrive on human companionship.  The average weight for males is between 80-115 lbs.  Females average weight is 75-95 lbs.  They are generally healthy dogs, with a life expectancy of 7-10 years.
